Chris Freestone made 60 appearances for Northampton Town between 1997 and 1999. In that time he scored 14 times, including twice against West Ham in a famous League Cup win for the Cobblers.
In this episode of It’s All Cobblers To Me, Chris talks to Charles and Danny about his football career and, of course, his time at Sixfields.
Find out how the move to Northampton was almost a move to Notts County, what happened when Ian Atkins wanted to know what made Freestone tick and whether any of the current Cobblers squad would have made it into the 1998 team.

Charles is the founder and main presenter of the award-winning It’s All Cobblers To Me podcast.
He began the podcast after going self-employed in 2018 as a podcast producer and voiceover artist. The original thought being that It’s All Cobblers To Me would be a place to try out new things – like a test podcast of sorts.
As well as being Cobblers mad, Charles is also a ultramarathon runner and has a blog about that that he tries to keep up to date as often as he can.
