Northampton Town 2-2 Cambridge United
The Cobblers were pegged back twice as Cambridge escaped with a replay in the FA Cup at Sixfields. Goals from Kion Etete and Paul Lewis helped give the atmosphere a true cup game vibe but Brady’s Boys weren’t quite able to hold on. Still, it’s a positive result and another game without defeat to keep the run going for the first team.
The East Stand
Perhaps we should be coming up with a new name for this flipping side of the stadium. The words East and Stand have such a negative connotation these days but there was good news this week! NTFC confirmed that a deal to further the progress on the completion of the stand has been agreed with West Northants Council in principal and a meeting of WNC in December should ratify the agreement.
All we need now is to get the Dean Peer Corridor named officially!
Other News
The Cobblers asked the fans to vote on which home shirt should be worn next season, the club’s 125th, last week. The winner was an updated version of the 86/87, pinstripe shirt that Graham Carr’s side romped to the Division 4 league title in. A result that both Danny and Charles agree with.
Head of Recruitment, Martin Foyle left the club this week to take up a dual recruitment and coaching role at Morecambe FC. We wish Martin all the best.
The Under 18’s have progressed to the 2nd round of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-0 victory over Kings Lynn. Another Cobblers side doing well!
Northampton Town Women
“How many did they score this week?” we hear you ask. Well the answer is 7 (SEVEN)! Just how amazing are this team? Our Abbie came off the bench to grab a goal too. Happy days.
Postbag
Richard Hamley has been in touch to tell us about his first game watching the Cobblers at the County Ground. Spoiler alert, it involved some very famous English players.
