Goats, Goodbyes and Good Results!

It’s been a whirlwind few weeks at Pod Towers, with the discovery of some entertaining goat stories, the departure of fans’ favourite Charlie Goode, the new fixtures and a 1-0 win against Leyton Orient in a pre-season friendly.

But before we get to that, we have to give a special mention to chairman Kelvin and Cobblers head of media, Gareth, who both joined us for what was a really successful Q&A. Patreons got the chance to ask anything (literally) they liked and subjects ranging from the play offs to the East Stand.

Shortly after our chat with Kelvin and Gareth, we got the news we’d all been waiting for- the fixtures, albeit a little different this year, we will at least be hopeful of a full Stadium of Light on the final day, where Keith Curle will seal his 2nd promotion with Netflix there for added drama! In all seriousness, it looks to be a tough old season ahead, so points on the opening day against Wimbledon are a must.

Last week we saw the departure of Charlie Goode for a rumoured fee in excess of £1m, which I guess for us Cobblers fans was the best result all round, knowing it was inevitable that we would lose a player of such talent. Isn’t it wonderful to know that he will not only be remembered for his great work as captain, but as instigator to Van Veen’s red card back in February- a season highlight! We must shout out Charlie for his amazing gesture of a donation towards the club as a leaving gift and wish him all the best at Brentford.

The Cobblers faced Leyton Orient in a friendly match at the weekend and we were all in agreement on the podcast that it was great to see the players back in action with a clear game plan and with the same manager after a promotion, we’re all hoping it pays off and we have a good start v the original Dons on the 12th September.

Finally, if you haven’t heard the podcasts recently, you really must catch up, there has been some entertaining goat related news and there is a Charlie Goode departure special, not to be missed.

UP THE COBBLERS!
