In Out Shake It All About

Some will always criticise a club, its manager, the players. They do it out of ambition and love for the club they support. It can come in the heat of the moment or after a considered, internal debate.

The same probably happens within a football club too.

Keith Curle has faced plenty of criticism during his tenure at Sixfields. Most recently over the way his team have been performing on the pitch, of course but also because of the signings that he made in the summer.

During January, Curle to be fair, has set about trying to put that right and has now bagged 3 of his top targets, albeit on loan.

We’ve also seen a lot of movement out of the club. Chris Lines, Nicky Adams and Joe Martin have all left the Cobblers and while we may never have seen the best of Lines and Adams will always be welcomed back, they were not getting in the team and all three are the wrong side of 30 now.

And then, late in the day, Christopher Missilou, a summer signing for Curle, was sold to Swindon.

Now in fairness, I’m guessing that he was sold rather than released on a free and then picked up by Swindon. I have no insider information on the deal.

While Missilou’s departure was a surprising one, it shows that Curle is not afraid to change things up. And just because you’re one of his newer signings doesn’t make you safe.

There is still half of the season left, so plenty of time to pick up the points needed to avoid relegation. The question will be whether these new additions to the team will be enough.
