154 Phases From Kick Off

How many phases have to be played after a set piece for a goal to be considered as having come from open play? All the important questions asked on this week’s podcast for fans of Northampton Town.

Northampton Town 2-0 Mansfield Town

Jon Brady’s Northampton got back to winning ways by beating struggling Mansfield Town on Saturday and that means the podcast team are in a jubilant mood.

From a terrible kick off to having a penalty decision overturned, you’d think that Mansfield had caught a terrible case of Cobblers-itis on Saturday. Usually we’d expect a side in poor form to rock up at Sixfields and turn their season around but thankfully the Stags hadn’t read that particular script.

Goals from open play were scored too as Aaron McGowan and Fraser Horsfield both found the net at least two phases after a throw-in. Yes, we’re claiming that! And despite a couple of chances for Nigel Clough’s side, the Cobblers held firm and moved upto 8th in League Two.

FA Cup 1st Round Draw

The Cobblers were drawn at home to League One Cambridge United during Sunday’s FA Cup 1st Round draw, live on ITV. A thrilled Kelly Smith and Wes Morgan picking a right old satsuma of a tie to be played the first weekend in November.

Messages from Brick Cobbler and Northampton Town Turkey were gratefully received this week. It’s amazing how empty the postbag can be after a win compared to last week’s when it was positively bulging!

Northampton Town Women 6-1 Kettering Town Women

The Cobblers Women continued their fine form this season on Sunday afternoon. Kettering Town Women were dispatched in the Northamptonshire FA Women’s Cup and our very own sponsored player, Abbie Brewin was player of the match with two assists.

Hosted by Charles Commins, Chessie Coleman, Neil Egerton-Scott and Danny Brothers.
