Joel Byrom joined the Cobblers initially on loan from Preston North End in August 2014. He signed a permanent deal 5 months later after PNE agreed to terminate his contract at Deepdale.
Alongside Jason Taylor, Byrom was one of the first names on Chris Wilder’s team sheet throughout his time at Sixfields.
After being nominated by Ricky Holmes, Joel joins the It’s All Cobblers To Me podcast team to chat about his footballing career.
Hear the real reason Chris Wilder made Joel’s loan signing permanent what it’s like to holiday with Ricky Holmes and why you’ll never eat another Colin the Caterpillar cake again.
As well as his time at Northampton, Joel talks us through his spells with Preston, Mansfield and Stevenage.
You’ll also find out who would win in a fight between Graham Westley and Steve Evans!
Enjoy!
Just to warn you, there is a little bit of swearing in this week’s pod.

Charles is the founder and main presenter of the award-winning It’s All Cobblers To Me podcast.
He began the podcast after going self-employed in 2018 as a podcast producer and voiceover artist. The original thought being that It’s All Cobblers To Me would be a place to try out new things – like a test podcast of sorts.
As well as being Cobblers mad, Charles is also a ultramarathon runner and has a blog about that that he tries to keep up to date as often as he can.
