Northampton Town Podcast Easter Weekend Shrewsbury & Hull City – After a bumper weekend of Easter action for The Cobblers, Charles, Chessie and Danny gather around the microphones to discuss wins, losses and chocolate.

Six Games To Go

This is where it starts to get exciting as the season begins to wrap up and the hopes and fears of Cobblers supporters begin to become more real as each game is played.

With just six games left to play, the Cobblers fate is far from decided and the more you look at the permutations, the more difficult it becomes.

So let’s take a look at what could happen.

The remaining fixtures for the Cobblers:

Bristol Rovers (h)

P*sh (a)

Ipswich (h)

Gillingham (a)

Blackpool (h)

Sunderland (a)

Out of those games, the most important one is obviously this Saturday’s home game against Bristol Rovers. If we were to only get one more win this season then it has to come in that game really.

I’m not going to make any predictions but I do get the feeling that we are going to need to pick up at least 7 points between now and the end of the season. If you were to push me, I’d say those 7 points are most likely to come from our home games.

Yes, they’re tough ones.

Ipswich and Blackpool are both going for the Play Offs, but we’ve played well at Sixfields recently and Jon Brady has instilled a bit of pride and fighting spirit in the squad so who knows what will happen.

The one thing tsar I think we can all agree we don’t really want, is for it to go down to the very last game of the season away at Sunderland.

I hope you’re enjoying the podcast and do keep listening as we’ve got loads to talk about over the next few weeks. Plus there may well be the odd special episode along the way too.

  1. My take is that they will need to get 51 points to survive so to my mind this means winning all of our home games and picking up three points in total from the three .away games they have left. ,I rate our chances of survival at 30% and am not too confident of staying in Lge 1 based on Brady’s track record to date away from home, On a more positive front the teams currently below us are not world beaters either and their current form in general is on a par with ours.

    1. Hi Roger. I’m not so sure we will need that many points myself. The teams below us are just as bad, if not worse than us at the moment and there are no guarantees that their games in hand will bring them any points. While I am still expecting us to be relegated, there is still a chance that we can survive. We just have to get behind the team as much as is possible at the moment from our homes.
