Northampton Town Podcast – Crewe Preview Show – On The Preview Show this week, Charles and Danny are joined by Crewe Alexandra fan Russ Fearn to discuss this weekends League One fixture at Gresty Road.

Playing the Crewe way.

It’s another important game for Keith Curle’s Cobblers side in League One this weekend. This time we’re heading up the M6 to face a Crewe side who finished 2nd in League Two last season.

Cheap train tickets and plenty of pubs in close vicinity of Gresty Road make Crewe away a highly anticipated match for us Cobblers fans.

This year, of course, we’ll be left to watch the action at home via ifollow while 2000 Crewe fans cheer on their team from the terraces and that one gigantic stand they have.

Crewe have started the season well and currently occupy 13th place in the league table, two points ahead of the Cobblers.

Much like us, the Railwaymen have collected most of their points against teams that sit in the bottom half of the league. They did beat Posh 2-0 at Gresty Road at the start of November, but like our result against Fleetwood, that seems to be an anomaly.

The biggest difference between us is the style of football the two sides play.

David Artell has settled in well and is now in his fourth full season as manager having been promoted from his role within the Crewe Academy in January 2017.

Knowing what Artell was like as a player, it’s perhaps surprising to see him sending out a team to play fast flowing, attacking, possession football. But he has embraced the footballing identity of the club and has got his team playing brand of football that is both pleasing to watch and successful.

Not that they’ve managed to take a single point off Keith Curle’s Cobblers in our previous three meetings!

On this week’s Preview Show, Charles and Danny chat to Russ from The Railwaymen podcast about playing football the Crewe way, this Saturday’s game and more.
