Jon Brady’s Northampton Town end their home campaign in League One this Saturday with a tough game against play off hunting Blackpool FC.
The Cobblers are more than likely going to be playing back in League Two next season but if they are to take their League One status right to the end, they must win.
Blackpool, managed by former Liverpool Under 23’s manager, Neil Critchley are heading in the opposite direction and look set to compete in the end of season knock outs.

An incredible comeback last weekend saw the Cobblers draw 2-2 with Gillingham at the Priestfield, having been 2-0 down and relegated at half time.
Blackpool have played a game extra this week as they beat Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday to right the wrongs of the 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Shrewsbury Town on home soil last weekend.
While Northampton Town may have the fresher pairs of legs this weekend, Blackpool have a bigger squad to choose from and confidence will be high in the Tangerine camp.

As long as Ryan Watson recovers from a knock picked up against Gillingham, Brady will likely field an unchanged side on Saturday. Brady has turned into a bit of a mind game master in recent weeks. And after digging up youngster Caleb Chukwuemeka to the press, he was dropped for the fit again Mikel Miller last weekend. Despite only having around 14 fit professionals to choose from, Brady’s strike force is purely guess work.
Blackpool will likely be without strikers Keshi Anderson and Gary Madine. The pair will probably be saved for the upcoming play off campaign.
Tuesday night’s goalscorer Sullay Kaikai and Grant Ward both hobbled off with injuries against Sunderland but neither have been ruled out by Critchley.
Missing both Ward and Kaikai would be another big blow for the Seasiders, who are also without Daniel Gretarsson, Matty Virtue and CJ Hamilton through injury.

Initially due to be played at the beginning of January, the game at Bloomfield Road was postponed twice before the sides eventually met on February 2nd.
Marvin Ekpiteta set the hosts on course for a comfortable win, with Jerry Yates putting the game beyond any doubt in 2nd half injury time.

Even the most optimistic of Cobblers fans have accepted that Barrow, Stevenage and Oldham are the most likely destinations for us next season. I’ve not completely given up hope though and believe that another home win against one of the bigger sides in League One is on the cards this weekend.
On this week’s edition of The Preview Show, Blackpool fan Tim has some words for encouragement in that the Tangerines don’t like it up ’em. Well with that being the case, Brady is likely to tell Sean McWilliams to snarl and snap at the heels of every Blackpool player and urge the rest of the Cobblers players to not give ‘Pool a moments peace.
The Cobblers will take the lead from a Blackpool defensive mix-up. In attempting to play out from the back, James Husband will considerately give the ball straight to Alex Jones who will make up for that glaringly ridiculous miss last week by taking the ball round Maxwell in the Blackpool goal before slotting home in the 4th minute of the game.
Buoyed by the early goal, Northampton push hard to give themselves breathing space and on the 37th minute, Peter Kioso runs clear on the right wing, crosses the ball to an on-rushing Ryan Watson who volleys it in to the top corner for 2-0.
Blackpool come out after half time baying for blood. They are a considerable force to be reckoned with and pin the Cobblers back for the rest of the game.
The Cobblers defence hold firm though, only allowing Mitchell to take one goal kick all half as the rest of the Cobblers team decide it is better to give Blackpool the ball back themselves.
Blackpool finally score through Jerry Yates on 87 minutes. Tim Oglethorpe immediately announces “Squeaky Bum Time” but it’s too little, too late for Blackpool and the Cobblers keep their survival hopes alive with a 2-1 win.
